They spent almost fifty summers at their cabin on a lake in northern Wisconsin, where they and their children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and friends swam, sailed, canoed, kayaked, water skied, wakeboarded, fished, read by the fire, and cooked. She and Tom traveled the world-England, France, Italy, Switzerland, Germany, Mexico, Thailand, and Hong Kong-with family and friends and have many fond and hilarious memories. Augustine's Episcopal Church in Wilmette, Illinois, her volunteer work at the Hadley School for the Blind, her master's degree in education from the University of Cincinnati, her teaching at Springer and Seven Hills in Cincinnati, she valued most her family, her many close friends, and her dogs. Though Janet was proud of her affiliations and accomplishments-Lyons Township High School in La Grange, Illinois, Camp Ak-O-Mak in Canada, the University of Michigan, the Delta Gamma sorority, her position as the first woman on the vestry at St. During the early years of their marriage, Tom was in the Air Force and then worked for big companies, and they moved frequently, from Ann Arbor to Cheyenne, Wyoming, Louisiana, Tennessee, South Carolina, Ohio, and then settled in Chicago for twelve years, before moving in 1975 to Wyoming, Ohio. They were married December 26, 1953, in La Grange, Illinois, where she grew up. They graduated in 1955, she with a degree in Political Science. They continued to see each other summers at camp until they both attended the University of Michigan. At the end of the summer, they returned to their respective homes-she to La Grange, Illinois, he to York, Pennsylvania. He saw her climbing into a van to go to church the first Sunday of camp, and the rest is family history. Thomas Benner, known as Tom, at camp in Canada when she was 15 and he was 16. She was born in Chicago, Illinois, April 23, 1933, to Miriam Thomas Campbell and Donald Alexander Campbell. Janet Campbell Benner died November 14 at home in Cincinnati, Ohio, with her husband Tom and daughter Susan at her side.
